This year our students have once again been given an amazing nine awards.

Art Contest

The ISM 10th annual Art Contest sponsored by the APA in the Primary School was a terrific success.  The theme this year was 'Space and Beyond' and more than one hundred children from Nursery to Year 6 participated.  Well done to all those who took part and helped to organise the event.

Visit from Juanfran!

We were very honoured to welcome Spanish international footballer and Atlético Madrid right back Juanfran to the school at the beginning of November. He spent the afternoon touring the school, meeting the children and answering their questions about football. He also very kindly signed a football shirt for us that we will auction for charity.

Outstanding Exam Results

Congratulations to our pupils in Years 11 to 13 who achieved our best ever set of examination results last summer. At A-level this year's pass rate was 99.6%, with 64% of the marks awarded being the top A*, A or B grades. At IGCSE in Year 11, the pass rate was 94%, with 67% of the grades awarded being A*, A or B.

Happy Hallowe'en!

Hallowe'en was a lot of fun again this year. We all had a lot fun dressing up in scary costumes and having parties. We also enjoyed our lunch of rats tails, fried brains with blood sauce and juicy eyeballs for dessert.

Mary Poppins

This year’s production of Mary Poppins has been awarded second place in the CERTAMEN DE TEATRO ESCOLAR DE LA COMUNIDAD DE MADRID competition. This is the third year running that ISM has won first or second prize.

Conchita Sande and Sarah Kingston also won the prize for Best Directors and Sofía Alemndro for Best Musical Performance.

A huge congratulations to all pupils, staff and parents involved!

Sporting Success

Congratulations to the Year 7 boys who recently came second in the inter-schools Basketball tournament.  And a very well done to the girls who won the bronze medal in the tournament in the San Sebastian de los Reyes Municipal Sports Centre last term. Our Primary pupils are also, once again, champions in the local football league.

Year 10 and 11 Geography and Biology Field Trip to the Sierra de Gredos

In October 41 students from Years 10 and 11 travelled to the Sierra de Gredos mountains to undertake two days of fieldwork exercises related to their Geography and Biology programmes of study.

The Gredos Centre lies in stunningly beautiful natural surroundings located at the edge of the Sierra de Gredos Nature Park. At 1600 meters we enjoyed fantastic views of the mountain range and its unique flora and fauna. Students undertook a range of fieldwork exercises including a river study, ecosystem transects and a rural settlement study.

All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made the most of the opportunity given to them, asking relevant and insightful questions of the centre experts. The staff at the centre commented on the fantastic behaviour and motivation of all students. The highlight of the trip was the Ibex hunt at 2000m! We were lucky enough to get incredibly close to 3 of the regions’ most famous inhabitants! We can't wait to go back again next year! Thanks to the teachers who went, to the Centre, to Bob the Geography specialist and Fran, master of mushrooms.
