Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Once again, the senior school put on another magnificent musical extravaganza just before the Easter holidays. Conchita Sande had members of Year 7-13 ‘oompa-lumping’ around the stage, with the professionalism of a Broadway musical. If you looked closely, there were even a few staff members working hard in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory.
Well done to all involved!

Summer Camp 2019
Welcome to the International School of Madrid Summer School, which offers an enjoyable programme for children from the ages of 1-9 years old.
Our summer camp is a total immersion in English with our dedicated qualified teaching team. With a range of activities children will have fun and a very memorable summer!
Remember that all our activities are conducted in English.
English: Children will take part in two English activities each day. One, more formal, will follow a structured language programme, the other will allow children to learn, practise and develop their English skills through a wide range of fun, enjoyable and interactive activities. Stories and songs will be carried out with the younger children.
Sports and Games: Using both our indoor hall and the outdoor playground, children will take part in a range of physical games and activities based on their age, such as football, basketball, volleyball, water play.
Arts, Crafts and Cookery: Each day children will take part in art, craft or cookery workshops. As well as helping children to develop their creative talents, and being a lot of fun, these are a great way for children to practise following instructions in English.
Music, Drama and Computers: During the course a number of other workshops will be given, such as Music and Drama, as well as the opportunity to develop computing skills in our Computer Suite for the older children.
Great Value
The price for the summer camp also includes:
Weekly Swimming Lessons for Pre-School and Primary: As part of the summer school we will be taking the children for a weekly swimming lesson to our local swimming pool. The instruction will be provided by Delfin instructors.
Excursions for children in the Primary Department: Once a week, the children will be taken to trips outside the school, below is a list of trips we made in Summer camp 2018. The trips will be finalised when we know the definitive number of children attending:
Faunia
Science & Technology Museum of Alcobendas
The Orchard farm in Montecarmelo.

Campeones
Just before semana blanca, all students in years 7, 8 and 9 went to the cinema to see this year’s ‘mejor película’ – Campeones. For some, it was their 4th time seeing this important movie and they still haven’t had enough. On our return to school, we were extremely fortunate to be visited by Álvaro Longoria, the film’s producer who also has his children at ISM. Álvaro gave us a wonderful talk about the journey to get the movie made and then the students had an opportunity to ask questions and get to hold a real Goya.
Many thanks to Álvaro for giving up his time to speak to us and answer so many questions, and to Conchita Sande for organising the day.

Bronze in Basketball
Congratulations to the Year 6/7 Basketball team who gained 3rd place in the Alevin International Schools of Madrid competition yesterday.
Mr Danny and Mr O’Riordan were impressed with how well they played together considering they don’t get much opportunity to practise as a team.

We are very proud of you all.
