Catch all for stories about ISM in general
With just 3 months to go before external exams start, Year 13 are already beginning to prepare for the end of their time at ISM. Sweatshirts have just arrived which many of them will be wearing on the ski slopes next week during ‘semana blanca’.
However, there is just the small matter of internal examinations to get through before they can hit the slopes. Years 11-13 are sitting exams in all their subjects this week. This is a great indicator for both staff and students of how they will do in the summer.
Good luck to them all!
Just before Christmas, El Economista interviewed Mr McClement.
Check out the link below to see what he had to say.
The standard of this year’s Christmas Shows was incredibly high. Thank you to all involved for your effort and dedication. Tuesday saw modern dance and percussion followed by key stage two performing the musicals “Children of the World” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. This was followed on Thursday by the ballet show, the foundation stage performance of “The Lost Little Reindeer” and key stage one’s traditional Nativity. Filling an 800 seat theatre on two nights is an amazing achievement. Well done!
Congratulations to all players in the tournament on Thursday 15th November. Mr O’Riordan made the following comment about the competition:
‘We won 1 game, lost 1 and drew 1 and only went out on goal difference so we came 5th overall. We have a very strong squad and most of our players can play again next year so I’m really looking forward to that- something to build on and hope to win next year!’
Friday 26th October saw the 2nd ever ISM House Football Tournament. St Patrick’s, St George’s, St David’s and St Andrew’s houses were proudly represented by all members of secondary. The tournament was split into KS3 girls, KS3 boys, KS4&5 girls, KS4&5 boys, with every student participating in at least one match. Even the teachers got involved by wearing their house colours and leading the cheerleading from the sidelines. Well done to all involved and to Mr O’Riordan for organising such a fun day!

We wish to congratulate Razwan, Guillermo and Mateo, from the KS3 Robotics Club in Secondary, who came third in the Spanish finals of the World Robot Olympiad in September. This is a tremendous achievement. This group, classed in the ‘rookie’ category, had to build their robot from scratch and undertake a specific task in under 2 minutes. 80 groups participated and ISM was the only school to do so. This activity points to the future, as we are told that many of the jobs of the future will be done by robots. At ISM we are very aware that we need to prepare our students for jobs which have not yet been invented. This means a focus on skills and abilities, including social, communication and language skills and emotional intelligence.
ISM Secondary would like to welcome all members of the ISM family back to school and the Autumn Term 2018 – 2019. We have had a busy week with many students already producing some fantastic work. Mr Wickham, and all the staff at secondary, wish you an enjoyable year in which our students continue to demonstrate the values of respect, loyalty and friendship that are at the very heart of ISM.
