Our Primary department is a wonderful place where children come happily to school in the mornings and leave with a smile on their face at the end of the day, having made tremendous progress with their learning.

Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Welcomed into a vibrant and exciting environment, children will choose from a wide range of creative and practical activities, developing oral, literacy, numeracy, social and personal skills. They will encounter a wealth of opportunities to explore and learn both inside and outdoors, guided by our qualified and experienced teachers and assistants.

From Year 1 upwards we follow the English National Curriculum, an enquiry based curriculum which encourages children to become confident and enthusiastic learners. The curriculum favours a practical and creative approach and encourages children to understand how their skills can be applied to real-life situations.

Pupils in Primary are taught by their form tutor for most subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art, Design & Technology. However, they are also lucky to benefit from being taught by specialist teachers for a number of subjects, including Physical Education, Music, Computing, Religion and, from Year 5 upwards, French. Pupils also receive a daily lesson of Spanish (Lengua y Literatura).

Swimming is offered as an optional subject up to Year 2 and is then compulsory in Years 3 to 6. In addition to their regular PE lessons, pupils in Years 4 to 6 visit various local pitches and tracks for team sports and athletics practices. Our pupils also take part in sports competitions against other local British schools.

The curriculum is complemented by a number of special events, including class assemblies, drama, dance and music performances in local theatres, and a number of exciting excursions and overnight residential trips.
